Year of the Wood Snake

2025 ushers in the Year of the Wood Snake. We just need to think about the characteristics of a snake to understand the energy of what the year has to bring us. A snake lies in wait, until the moment is right to strike and then when it does it gobbles its victim whole! A snake also sheds it's skin, leaving behind the old and making room for the new. We are all being asked to be patient, use our intuition, act only when the time is right while at the same time release old patterns, habits and conditioning in order to embrace new opportunities.

The Snake, known for its wisdom and intuitive nature, combined with the nurturing and adaptable Wood element, suggests a year of significant personal and collective transformation.

Inside the Snake we find Yang Fire, Yang Metal, and Yang Earth with the main energy being Fire enhancing the transformational energy already present in Period 9 which started in 2024. Additionally with Pluto moving into Aquarius we are in a place where in our lifetime there has never been a greater opportunity to embody self empowerment and awaken to our highest purpose.

2025 is a 9 year (2+2+5=9) and 9 represents endings, completions and transformations. In Tarot it is the Hermit and the image is a sage carrying a lantern lighting the way for others to follow. In order to embody the energy of the Hermit you must go inward.

It is a vey exciting time to be alive as we are at the very beginning of a huge transformational shift on the planet that we each individually signed up to play a part in! How are you going to make your mark at this time?

Snakes need to be persistent and learn to take responsibility to do the best they can. They have a tendency to procrastinate which can be perceived as lazy, yet they are just lying in wait for the right moment to strike. They must learn to bring their heart to, and be passionate about, what they do in order to be fulfilled.

Yin Wood needs to cultivate authenticity and learn to let go of what people think. It is the sign of networking and socializing. It is adaptable, caring, intelligent and flexible. In order to be successful they must overcome insecurity and accept themselves as they are. Wood is represented by kindness and generosity.

When we look to the elements in the chart of the year, we see very little Metal, which represents law and order, justice and fairness. With this element missing from the chart these things will also be missing from society. The element of Earth is also weak this year and this will show up as people lacking trust. People will break rules and there will continue to be social activism and more protests. All of the Wood present offers a time for intense growth, and Wood feeds the Fire present in the chart which represents growth in spirituality. Water represents wisdom and fear offering an opportunity to choose between the two. Can you stay grounded in love and acceptance (wisdom) to overcome the fear that is present at this time.

This time is offering us and opportunity to overcome the mind created fear and move into the heart centered love

According to the I-Ching the Hexagram for 2025 is #49 Reform/Revolution. The Chinese texts state: You should go to the root of the problem and initiate a thorough change, uniting with the right people to make the change. When making decisions, you should choose the southeast direction for action. The two fundamental trigrams involved are water and fire, which are conflicting elements, indicating two uncompromising scenarios. Big change is in order.

Once again, we find ourselves in a time of great change with opportunities for new beginnings. And as human beings, change and new beginnings are not easy. Having a daily spiritual practice, self-care rituals, and slowing down to reflect on and repair our relationships continues to be of the utmost importance. By healing ourselves we heal the collective.
